Privacy PolicyThe Gym BibleLast updated: 01/09/20261. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how The Gym Bible (“the app”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses,
stores and protects your personal data when you use our mobile application.
The Gym Bible is operated by Zico Thandi, trading as The Gym Bible, based in the United
Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the “data controller” of your
personal data — meaning we are responsible for deciding how and why your data is used.
We take your privacy seriously. We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it with
advertisers, and we do not use third-party advertising networks.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at
[email protected].
2. Data We Collect2.1 Information you provide when creating an account
Email address
Password (stored securely in hashed form — we never see or store your password in
readable form)
Your name
If you sign in with Google: your Google account identifier and email address
2.2 Profile information
Experience level and training goal
Sport and playing position (if selected)
Gender
Country
Unit preference (metric or imperial)
Height, weight and age
2.3 Training and activity data
Workouts logged, including exercises, sets, reps, weights and session duration
Workout templates and training programmes you create
Personal records and progression history
Warm-up routines completed
Favourited exercises and custom exercises you create
Training streaks, active days, badges and milestones
2.4 Nutrition and hydration data
Food diary entries including food names, calories and macronutrients
Custom foods you create
Barcode scans used to look up food products
Water intake records and daily goals
2.5 Body and health-related data
Body measurements including weight, body fat percentage and body dimensions
Progress photographs you choose to upload
Some of this information — including your weight, body measurements, progress
photographs and nutrition records — may be considered health-related data, which
receives additional protection under UK data protection law. We only process this data with
your explicit consent, given when you choose to record it. You are never required to provide
it, and you can delete it at any time.
2.6 App usage data
We record limited analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This
includes events such as screens viewed, workouts logged, exercises viewed, foods logged
and features used.
Importantly, this analytics data is stored in our own database. We do not use any
third-party analytics service such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics or similar.
2.7 Technical data
Device model and operating system version (collected only when an error occurs, for
crash reporting)
Approximate country, derived from your device settings, used to show the correct
regional food database
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data to:
Create and manage your account
Provide the app’s core features — logging workouts, nutrition, water intake and body
progress
Save your data so it is available across your devices
Calculate your streaks, personal records, badges and progress statistics
Personalise training, nutrition and warm-up guidance based on your sport, position and
goals
Send you the notifications and reminders you have chosen to receive
Manage your subscription if you subscribe to Pro
Identify and fix bugs and crashes
Understand how the app is used so we can improve it
Respond to your questions and support requests
4. Our Lawful Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your personal data. Ours are:
Performance of a contract — processing necessary to provide the app and its features to
you, and to manage your subscription.
Consent — for health-related data (body measurements, progress photographs, nutrition
records), for analytics, and for push notifications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Legitimate interests — for crash reporting and app security, to keep the app working
reliably. We have considered your rights and believe this processing is minimal and
expected.
Legal obligation — where we must retain certain records, for example transaction records
for tax purposes.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with the
service providers necessary to run the app:
Supabase — provides our database, authentication and file storage. All your account and
app data is stored here. Supabase acts as our data processor.
Sentry — crash and error reporting. When an error occurs, Sentry receives the error details,
your device model and operating system version, and an anonymous user identifier.
Personal information is stripped before sending — Sentry does not receive your name,
email address, food records, body measurements or photographs.
RevenueCat — manages subscriptions. Receives an anonymous user identifier and your
subscription receipt and status. Does not receive your name, email or any app data.
Apple and Google — process subscription payments through their respective app stores.
Payment details are handled entirely by them; we never see or store your card details.
Open Food Facts — provides our food and nutrition database. When you search for a food
or scan a barcode, the search term or barcode and your country setting are sent to look up
product information. This request is made from our server, not directly from your device,
and is not linked to your identity.
Google — if you choose to sign in with Google, and for downloading the app’s typefaces.
We may also disclose your data if required to do so by law.
6. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on secure servers operated by Supabase. Some of our service providers
may store or process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we rely on
appropriate safeguards — such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses
— to ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection.
7. How We Protect Your Data
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections
Passwords are stored in hashed form and are never readable by us
Database access is protected by row-level security, meaning you can only ever access
your own records
Progress photographs and custom exercise images are stored in private storage. They
are not publicly accessible and can only be viewed through temporary secure links
generated for you, which expire after one hour
Access to production systems is restricted
No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate
measures to protect your information.
8. How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep your personal data for as long as your account remains active.
If you delete your account, we permanently delete your account data, including your
workout history, nutrition records, body measurements and progress photographs. This
includes deleting the actual image files from our storage, not simply the records referring to
them.
Some limited information may be retained where we are legally required to do so, for
example records relating to subscription transactions.
9. Your Rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Rectification — ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete
Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data. You can do this yourself at any time
using the Delete Account option in the app’s settings
Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
Portability — request your data in a portable format
Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
Withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time, including for analytics and
notifications, through the app’s settings
To exercise any of these rights, contact
within one month.
[email protected]. We will respond
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to
the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at
ico.org.uk.
10. Device Permissions
The app may ask for the following permissions. You can refuse or withdraw any of them in
your device settings, though some features will not work without them.
Camera — to scan food barcodes and take progress photographs.
Photo library — to select progress photographs, and to save workout summary images if
you choose to share them.
Notifications — to send you the reminders you have enabled.
The app does not request access to Apple Health, Google Fit, your location, contacts, or
microphone.
11. Children
The Gym Bible is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect
personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal
data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes we
will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the
app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of The Gym Bible mobile application
(“the app”). By downloading, accessing or using the app you agree to be bound by these
Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The Gym Bible is operated by Zico Thandi, trading as The Gym Bible, based in the United
Kingdom.
2. Important Health and Fitness Disclaimer
Please read this section carefully. It is important.
The Gym Bible provides general information about exercise, training, nutrition, recovery and
injury prevention. This information is educational only. It is not medical advice, and it is not
a substitute for professional guidance from a qualified doctor, physiotherapist, registered
dietitian, or certified coach.
We are not medical professionals. The app does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any
medical condition.
By using the app you acknowledge and agree that:
You should consult a qualified medical professional before beginning any new exercise
or nutrition programme, particularly if you have any existing medical condition, injury, or
are pregnant
Physical exercise carries an inherent risk of injury. You take part entirely at your own risk
You are responsible for exercising within your own capabilities and for stopping if you
experience pain, dizziness, discomfort or any other warning sign
Training programmes, exercise instructions, nutrition guidance and injury prevention
content in the app are general in nature and may not be suitable for your individual
circumstances
Calorie and macronutrient information is provided as a guide and may not be accurate
for every food or portion. Nutrition data is sourced from third-party databases and we
cannot guarantee its accuracy
Any injury, health issue or adverse outcome arising from your use of the app is your
responsibility
If you experience chest pain, severe shortness of breath, faintness or any other
medical emergency during exercise, stop immediately and seek urgent medical
attention.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you are under 18, you should use the app
only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, and you should not begin any training
programme without appropriate adult and medical guidance.
4. Your Account
To use most features you need to create an account. You agree to:
Provide accurate information when registering
Keep your login details secure and confidential
Not share your account with anyone else
Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your
permission
You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.
5. Subscriptions and Payment
5.1 Free and Pro
The Gym Bible offers a free tier with substantial functionality, and an optional paid
subscription (“Pro”) which unlocks additional features.
5.2 Pricing
Pro is available as a monthly or annual subscription. Current prices are displayed in the app
before you purchase. Prices may vary by region and are shown in your local currency.
5.3 Free trial
We may offer a free trial on the annual subscription for new subscribers. If you do not cancel
before the trial ends, your subscription will begin and you will be charged. Trial eligibility is
determined by Apple or Google and is generally limited to one per user.
5.4 Billing and renewal
Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by us
directly. We never receive or store your payment details.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you
cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your account will be charged for renewal
within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
5.5 Cancellation
You can cancel at any time through your Apple or Google account subscription settings.
Cancelling stops future renewals; you retain Pro access until the end of the period you have
already paid for.
Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
5.6 Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us. If you believe
you are entitled to a refund, please contact Apple or Google directly. We are not able to
issue refunds for purchases made through the app stores.
5.7 Price changes
We may change subscription prices. Existing subscribers will be notified in advance in
accordance with Apple and Google’s requirements, and any change will not take effect until
your next renewal.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
Use the app for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the app, our servers, or another user’s account
Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the app’s source code
Copy, redistribute or resell any content from the app
Upload any content that is unlawful, offensive, or infringes anyone else’s rights
Use automated systems to access the app or extract data from it
Interfere with or disrupt the app’s operation
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for anyone breaching these terms.
7. Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you create in the app, including your workout logs,
nutrition records, body measurements, progress photographs and custom exercises.
By uploading content you grant us a limited licence to store and process it solely to provide
the app’s features to you. We do not use your content for any other purpose, and we do not
share it with anyone else except as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for the content you upload and confirm you have the right to upload it.
8. Our Content and Intellectual Property
All content in the app — including text, training programmes, guidance, design, graphics,
logos and software — is owned by us or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright and
other intellectual property laws.
Exercise demonstration animations are licensed from a third-party provider and are used
under that licence. Food and nutrition data is provided by Open Food Facts under its own
licence terms.
You may use the app’s content for your own personal, non-commercial use only. You may
not reproduce, distribute, publish or create derivative works from it without our written
permission.
9. Availability and Changes
We aim to keep the app available and working reliably, but we do not guarantee
uninterrupted access. The app may be unavailable at times due to maintenance, updates or
issues outside our control.
We may modify, add or remove features at any time. We may also discontinue the app, in
which case we will give reasonable notice where possible and, where appropriate, address
any active subscriptions.
10. Third-Party Services
The app relies on third-party services including Supabase, Sentry, RevenueCat, Open Food
Facts, and the Apple and Google app stores. We are not responsible for the availability,
accuracy or practices of these services.
The app may link to external websites, including YouTube search results for exercise
tutorials. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content. Any videos you
view are hosted by YouTube and subject to YouTube’s own terms and policies.
11. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by
our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
Subject to that:
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind
We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any content is
accurate or complete
We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of profit
arising from your use of the app
Our total liability to you in connection with the app will not exceed the amount you have
paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time and delete your account through the app’s settings.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if
we discontinue the app.
On termination, your right to use the app ends. Provisions relating to intellectual property,
disclaimers and limitation of liability survive termination.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes we will
update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject
to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
